Lalique is best known as quite probably the best glass designer in Europe, but originally he was a very successful jewellery designer. During the first World War he was too old to fight so he used his design skills in metal to produce various medallions, pendents and pins which could be sold to help raise funds for French soldiers, their wives and children.

Small French gold plated brooch with an enchanting crisp image of a nouveau maiden surrounded by iris's and foliage and of wonderful quality. Signed 'Dropsy' to front and 'Fix' to rear. Henry Dropsy 1885-1969, was a renown French medalist and artist who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais. See my sculptors and artists section for more details. Condition is very good. Small pretty silver brooch with a central citrine cabochon and heart shaped leaf decoration. Silver marking to side. Condition is good, the citrine has a small internal inclusion and a very small chip to the very edge of the stone which is not noticable. Approx. size 2.6cm x 1.2cm.
This is a very unusual WWI brooch which I believe to be brass with a good crisp image of a woman with arms outstretched to a child. Inscription reads 'ORPHELINAT des ARMEES' and signed R. Lalique. Condition is very good. Approx. size 3cm x 3.5cm.
Lovely large contemporary metal brooch in the Mucha style with the image of a maidens head surrounded by foliage. Condition is good and new. Approx. size 3 inches (8cm) x 2.5 inches (6cm).
